Privacy Policy
Effective September 13, 2026 · Version 2026-09-13
This Privacy Policy explains how ChirpTrio LLC (“ChirpTrio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information through the ChirpTrio mobile app and related support services.
1. Current service
ChirpTrio currently provides account-based app messaging, photo sharing, notifications, and live push-to-talk (“PTT”). SMS, MMS, traditional telephone calling, paid subscriptions, advertising, and assigned telephone numbers are not part of the current public service. This policy will be updated before any such feature launches.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: email address, Firebase user identifier, email-verification status, policy acceptance, username, optional display name, and optional profile photo. Firebase Authentication processes passwords; we do not store your plain-text password.
- Content and contacts: contacts you manually enter, conversations, messages, photos and captions you choose to share, message requests, delivery and read activity, typing signals, and conversation-clearing state.
- PTT and availability: PTT contacts, favorites, presence and availability settings, Talk Requests, connection status, room identifiers, participants, session timestamps, and session duration or outcome. We do not record or store person-to-person PTT audio.
- Device and notification information: push-notification tokens, device platform, notification preferences, and limited technical or operational information processed by our providers, which may include IP addresses and service logs.
- Safety and support: blocks, reports, report explanations, selected message evidence, limited surrounding conversation context available to authorized moderators investigating a report, moderation actions, audit records, and communications sent to our support or privacy addresses.
3. Device permissions
We request photo-library access only when you choose a profile or chat photo. We request microphone access for PTT Test and live PTT; audio transmits only while the talk control is active. We request notification permission for messages, requests, and PTT alerts. ChirpTrio does not request device-location or camera permission.
4. How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts; verify users; provide messaging, photo, notification, presence, blocking, reporting, and PTT features; synchronize settings; operate and measure PTT sessions; respond to support requests; prevent fraud and abuse; investigate reports; enforce our policies; maintain and improve reliability; and comply with legal obligations. We do not currently use advertising SDKs or sell personal information.
5. How information is disclosed
- Other users: your username, optional display name, profile photo, messages, shared photos, presence, read or typing status (when enabled), and related activity are visible to people you choose to contact as needed for those features. Your account email is not displayed to other users.
- Service providers: Google Firebase provides authentication, database, storage, server functions, hosting, and push-delivery infrastructure; Expo provides application and push-delivery services; and LiveKit transmits live PTT audio and connection data. They process information for us under their applicable terms.
- Safety and law: we may preserve or disclose information when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect people or the service, establish or defend legal claims, or comply with lawful requests.
- Business changes: information may be transferred in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal protections.
6. Security and encryption
We use authentication, access rules, administrative controls, and service-provider safeguards. Firebase encrypts supported data in transit and at rest. Live PTT uses encrypted WebRTC transport. ChirpTrio has not enabled end-to-end encryption, so messages, photos, and PTT must not be treated as inaccessible to every service provider or to ChirpTrio where access is necessary for operation, safety, or law. No service can guarantee absolute security.
7. Retention
We retain account and communication data while needed to provide the service or until it is deleted. Clearing a conversation removes it from your view only; the other participant may retain it. If either participant deletes their account, the shared conversation and stored chat media are deleted from ChirpTrio. Storage providers may maintain short-lived, inaccessible backup or soft-deletion copies before final erasure.
Limited safety reports, moderation and audit records, PTT session metadata, number-release records, or records subject to a legal hold may be retained only as reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, enforcing our policies, or legal compliance. We delete or de-identify such records when they are no longer reasonably needed.
8. Account deletion
You may permanently delete your account inside the app through Settings → Account & Security → Delete Account. After password confirmation, ChirpTrio deletes your Firebase Authentication account, profile, contacts, conversations, messages, stored photos, push tokens, and related private account data. This action cannot be undone and can remove shared conversation history from the other participant’s ChirpTrio account.
If you cannot access the app, use our account-deletion request page. We may verify that you control the account email before processing an external request.
9. Your choices and privacy requests
You may change profile and privacy settings, disable notifications, remove photos, block users, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of certain information, or object to certain processing. Email privacy@chirptrio.com to make a request. We may verify your identity before responding.
10. Adults only
ChirpTrio is intended only for people age 18 or older. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts. If you believe a person under 18 has provided information through ChirpTrio, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.
11. International processing and changes
Our providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate. Privacy protections may differ from those in your location. We may update this policy as the service or law changes. Material changes will be posted here and, when appropriate, presented in the app for renewed acceptance.
